The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has sent notices to five e-commerce companies including Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm Mall and several vendors for selling pressure cookers that do not meet Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standards.

The CCPA on November 18 issued notices to these e-commerce companies and sellers who offer pressure cookers on their platforms. He is accused of selling cookers that do not meet BIS standards. A senior official of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs said on Monday that the CCPA, taking suo motu cognizance in this matter, has issued notices to the companies. They have been asked to reply within seven days.
CCPA has run a nationwide campaign against fake products of defective quality on the occasion of 75 years of independence of the country. An official explained how an e-commerce company can sell products that do not meet the standards. He said that such companies should allow sellers to sell products on the platform only after meeting the standard. They should run their business responsibly.

Guidelines have already been issued by CCPA to all the districts regarding this. It has been said that the cases related to the sale of any kind of illegal product and violation of the rights of the consumer should be thoroughly investigated. Along with this, CCPA has also run many campaigns to make consumers aware and also motivate the customers to buy ISI quality products.
