New Delhi. E-Shram Card was launched on 26 August 2021 by the Ministry of Labor and Employment for the welfare of workers in the unorganized sector. The central government wants to register 38 crore workers of the unorganized sector through the E-Shram Portal. Recently, the registration figure of workers in the unorganized sector on the e-shram portal has crossed 10 crores. This portal is the first national database of unorganized workers.
How to register
Workers between the age group of 16 to 59 years can register themselves on the e-shram portal. After registering on the e-shram portal, the workers will get a Universal Account Number (UAN) card. To enroll, workers should have an Aadhaar linked mobile number and a bank account. Workers who do not have an Aadhaar linked mobile number can register through biometric authentication at the nearest Common Service Center (CSC).
An e-shram card is issued to the workers who register on the e-shram portal. E-Shram card has a Universal Account Number, which is valid across the country. With the help of this card, workers can take advantage of all social security schemes anywhere and anytime in the country. According to eshram.gov.in, the e-shram card is free for all, although it will cost Rs 20 to update the data on the card.
