About 4 crore people have registered themselves on the recently launched e-shram portal for the workers of the unorganized sector. 34 crore more workers are yet to be registered.
After registering on this portal, workers will not need to register again and again to take advantage of the Social Security Scheme of the Government of India.
Although any worker above 16 and below 60 years of age can register on this portal, but it is seen that many such people of the same family are registering, who do not work anywhere. . College students and domestic women are also queuing up for registration.
Actually this scheme is for such workers, who do not pay income tax and are not members of EPFO and ESIC. Let us inform that more than 38 crore unorganized workers from across the country can register on this portal. These include agricultural workers, migrant workers, gig workers, etc. Through this portal, the last worker standing in the last row will be given an e-shram card. E-shram card will be recognized in all the states of the country. That is to say, it is necessary to register on http://eshram.gov.in to get e-shram card and join all social security schemes.
Three ways to register
- Self-registration can be done through Common Service Centers through e-shram portal http://eshram.gov.in .
- Registration can also be done through the regional offices of the state government in the districts / sub-districts. Let us tell you here that at the time of registration on the e-shram portal, the unorganized worker should have Aadhar card , Aadhaar linked mobile number and bank account details.
What will be the benefit of registration
- Registration on the portal gives accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh.
- If an employee is registered on the portal and meets with an accident, he/she will be eligible for Rs two lakh on death or permanent disability and Rs one lakh on partial disability.
- On registration, workers will get a universal account number, which will facilitate portability of social security schemes, ration cards, etc., especially for migrant workers.
Keep these things in mind
