So far more than 2.5 crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram Portal.
New Delhi. The Labor Ministry said on Sunday that more than 2.5 crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-shram portal. This portal was launched on 26 August 2021. This portal is the first database of unorganized workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers.
According to the statement, Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that in the fourth week more than 1.71 crore unorganized workers were registered and in this (5th) week a total of more than 2.51 crore registrations have been done.
38 crore workers will be benefited The
e-shram portal will do free registration of more than 38 crore unorganized workers in the country and will help them in the distribution of social security schemes. Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav launched the e-shram portal late last month to create and maintain a database of 38 crore workers in the unorganized sector.
The government has also issued a national toll free number – 14434 to help the workers who want to register on the portal. The purpose of this entire exercise is to integrate the social security schemes of the government. The information available on the portal will also be shared with the departments of the state governments. This portal will help all unorganized sector workers including construction workers, migrant workers, gig and platform workers, street vendors, domestic workers, agricultural workers, milkmen, fishermen, truck drivers.
