The central government has launched the e-shram portal for about 38 crore workers in the unorganized sector. The portal was launched on Thursday under the leadership of Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav.
National database will be created through this portal and e-shram card will be issued to the workers. This card will have a 12 digit unique number. E-Shram Card is valid across the country.
How to make a card: For e-shram card, one has to visit https://eshram.gov.in/ link. In addition to the Aadhaar number, Aadhaar linked mobile number will be required for registration on this link. Apart from this, information about bank account details will also have to be given. At the same time, any person up to the age of 16-59 years can register for this card. It will also have to be mentioned on the portal whether you are a member of EPFO or ESIC. If you are a member of either EPFO or ESIC, then you will not be able to self-register.
Apart from this, you will also get the details of Common Service Center on the portal. On this portal, the details of workers’ name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill etc. will be there. Through this, the benefits of social security schemes can be expanded according to the qualification of the worker. Explain that this is the first national database of unorganized workers.

Affected in Corona period: Last year , workers in the unorganized sector have been badly affected due to the lockdown during the Corona period . When the workers lost their jobs, the crisis of livelihood also arose. In such a situation, the workers returned home on a large scale. After this, emphasis was laid on preparing a national database of workers. However, this process also slowed down and later the portal has been prepared after the order of the Supreme Court. The move is aimed at integrating the social security schemes of the government. The details of workers will also be shared by the state governments and departments.
