Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi following post-Covid complications. Mr Pokhriyal had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 21 and had resumed office after recovery.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been admitted to the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi following post-Covid complications. Mr Pokhriyal had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 21 and had resumed office after recovery.
According to sources, the minister is admitted under Dr Neeraj Nischal, an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). “He (Pokhriyal) was admitted due to post-Covid complications on Tuesday morning. He is admitted under Dr Neeraj Nishchal,” a source said.
While announcing that the Union Minister of Education is Covid positive on April 21, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said: “This is to inform you all that I have tested Covid positive. I am taking medication and treatment as per the advice of my doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to get themselves tested.”
The Education Minister was supposed to announce a decision on Class 12th board exams soon. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had asked states to send their suggestions, adding that a decision on Class 12th board exams will be taken at the earliest.
On a plea heard by the Supreme Court on Monday, May 31, on cancellation of the upcoming 2021 Class 12 board exams, the Centre has requested two days’ time to take a final call on the board exams. The Supreme court adjourned the matter to June 3 after Attorney General appearing for the Centre informed the Supreme Court that the Government will take a decision on Class 12 board exams in two days. “Give us time till Thursday and Government will come with a final decision,” Attorney General said.
