Approval of Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme-2023
Kejriwal has approved the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme-2023. This marks the beginning of policy making for cab service providers and bike rental services in Delhi. In this, it has been said to run only electric bike as a taxi. According to a statement, the plan stipulates that all bike taxi and two-wheeler rental services in Delhi will be provided only by electric two-wheelers.
The draft has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor
According to the statement, the draft of the plan has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor. The transport department will then take public feedback before finalizing it. The statement said that the new provisions have been made keeping in mind the Delhi EV Policy, 2020. In February 2023, the Transport Department of the Delhi government launched a campaign against the commercial use of private two-wheelers.
Provision for fine up to one lakh rupees
The department, while banning bike taxis from operating in Delhi, warned that they would be fined up to one lakh rupees if found violating the rules. According to the issued notification, it is necessary for all new commercial vehicles to be electric after five years.
