Electricity Bill Hike: As per the order of Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), the tariff for domestic consumers has been increased by 20 paise per unit. Those consuming electricity in the slab of 0 to 50 units will now have to pay Rs 2.20 per unit instead of Rs 2 per unit

Electricity Bill Hike in Haryana: Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has announced new electricity rates for 2025-26. Under this, the charges for domestic and industrial consumers have been increased by 20 to 30 paise per unit as compared to last year. For domestic consumers, HERC has increased the electricity rate by 20 paise per kilowatt. In the slab of zero to 50 units, the rate has been increased from Rs 2 per kilowatt to Rs 2.20. Similarly, in the 51-100 unit slab, the rate has also been increased from Rs 2.50 per kilowatt to Rs 2.70.

Consumers consuming more than 100 units per month will now have to pay Rs 2.95 per kilowatt instead of 2.75 in the slab of zero to 150 units. According to an official statement, the fee was reduced from Rs 2.70 per unit to Rs 2 (0-50 units per month) in the financial year 2020-21. At the same time, the fee was reduced from Rs 4.50 per unit to Rs 2.50 in the 51 to 100 unit slab. But now it has been fixed at Rs 2.20 and Rs 2.70 per unit in the latest order.

According to news agency PTI, a statement said, “Apart from this, this new structure of electricity rates provides immediate relief to the people by eliminating the burden of minimum monthly charge (MMC). However, a two-way fee system has been introduced, in which no fixed fee will be levied on domestic consumers with monthly electricity consumption up to 300 units.” “The tariff for category-I domestic consumers is still the lowest compared to neighbouring states,” the official statement said.

Meanwhile, the rate for the slab of 151-300 units will be Rs 5.25, Rs 6.45 for 301 to 500 units and Rs 7.10 per kWh for consumption of more than 500 units. The HERC has also created a new category for consumers with load of more than five kW. The rate for zero to 500 units slab will be Rs 6.50, Rs 7.15 for 501 to 1,000 units and Rs 7.50 per kWh for more than 1,000 units.

Apart from this, a fixed tariff of Rs 50 per kWh has been imposed for 301 to 500 and more than 500 units slabs. For industrial consumers, the rate in the 11 KVAh supply category has been increased from Rs 6.65 per KVAh (kilovolt-ampere hour) to Rs 6.95. Apart from this, the fixed charge in this category has been increased from Rs 165 per KVA (kilovolt ampere) per month to Rs 290.

To provide relief to farmers, the charge for the agriculture category with metered connection has been reduced. As per the load, the minimum monthly charge per BHP has been reduced from Rs 200 per KVA per annum to Rs 180/144. To encourage emerging sectors like mushroom compost and spawn, advanced hydroponics, aeroponics and cold storage, a new slab above 20 kW has been created for agro-industry/FPO. The charge for this has been fixed at Rs 6.50 per unit. At present, FPOs having load of more than 20 KW were being billed as per LT supply category charges.
