Electricity Bill Payment Haryana Electricity Corporation’s agreement with Paytm has been broken. However, consumers will be able to pay electricity bills through Paytm as before. In the evening, the electricity corporation has made it clear.
In Haryana, the agreement of electricity corporations with Paytm Wallet has been broken. Despite this, consumers will be able to pay bills through Paytm. Earlier, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had directed not to accept any payment through Paytm from September 1, but issued a clarification by the evening that all digital payments would be processed through alternate channels. Consumers can pay electricity bills with Paytm as before.
In fact, things got worse when Paytm demanded more money from the government instead of paying the bills of consumers. In lieu of per bill payment to Paytm, the government gives two rupees from its treasury. Recently, Paytm not only put a condition to increase this amount to Rs 2 45 paise, but also imposed a condition of charging 1.45 percent amount as convenience fee from the consumers. The government was ready to increase its share, but refused to impose convenience fee on the consumers. If things did not work out, the government terminated the long-standing contract with Paytm.
PK Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Electricity Department, said that if we had accepted the condition of Paytm, then other companies on the digital platform would also have demanded more payment. We cannot allow anyone to charge extra from the consumer, so the government has decided to terminate the contract with Paytm. Despite this, the interests of the consumers will not be affected. He can pay through Paytm as before. They will not have to pay any extra charges.
Get smart meter installed, get 5% discount in electricity bill
The state government, which is aiming to install 30 lakh smart meters in the next three years, has announced a five percent discount in electricity bill to the consumers who install new technology meters. So far more than four lakh smart electricity meters have been installed in the state. The special thing about these meters is that along with online recharge, pre-paid facility is also available. About one lakh more smart meters will be installed in Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula and Karnal by September 30.
In these cities, it has been made mandatory to install smart meters in case of consumers applying for new connections or replacement of old faulty meters. To get a pre-paid connection, the consumer will not have to make any security deposit. An SMS will be sent to the subscriber from time to time regarding the balance balance of the recharge amount. Despite this, if the subscriber fails to recharge his account, the connection will be disconnected when the balance is exhausted.
