New Delhi: Delhiites will have to tell from next month whether they want subsidy on electricity bill or not. The Delhi government will send a form along with the electricity bill to the electricity consumers from next month i.e. August. In this form, consumers will have to tell whether they want subsidy on electricity or not. Officials said that in the power subsidy opt-in form, consumers will be able to choose whether they want subsidy on electricity or not. The government has prepared a standard operating procedure (SOP) for keeping the forms online and offline to seek public opinion, which is expected to be placed before the cabinet this month for approval.
Normal fee will be levied for not submitting the form
At the same time, another official said that along with the electricity bill, the electricity department is planning to send these forms to the consumer. In this form, the consumers will have to tell whether they want the benefit of electricity subsidy or not, after which they will have to submit this form to the regional offices of the concerned discom. On the other hand, in the event of non-submission of the form, it will be deemed that the consumer is ready to give up the subsidy and will be charged at the normal electricity rate from October. The forms will be submitted by the end of September.
This money will be spent on construction of schools, hospitals
Let us inform that on May 2022, CM Kejriwal had announced that subsidy on electricity would be given to those people who would specifically demand it. He said that there are many people who can pay the electricity bill without subsidy and with this money we can develop the city, schools and hospitals. Let us inform that in Delhi, consumers get 100% subsidy on spending up to 200 units of electricity in a month. The number of such consumers in the state is 30.39 lakh. At the same time, 50% subsidy is given to those who spend 201-400 units per month. Consumers can also fill the subsidy form by visiting the website of the discom.
