New Delhi. The Maharashtra government has given good news to the employees associated with one of its departments. The government has approved a 6 per cent hike in dearness allowance for the employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Now with this the DA for MSRTC employees will increase to 34 per cent.
On this decision, MSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Shekhar Channe said that the government has approved to increase DA from the existing 28 percent to 34 percent. He said that for this new increase in salary, the state-owned public transport bodies will have to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 15 crore per month.
This decision was pending for four months,
While on this decision, Sangh leader Shrirang Barge said that he is happy with this decision because it was pending for four months. Barge said that MSRTC employees should also get arrears of dearness allowance as the state government has not paid it for a long time. The corporation has a workforce of more than 80,000 employees.
MSRTC has 16,000 buses
Let us tell you that last year MSRTC employees were on strike for more than five months for various demands including the merger of the corporation with the state government. At the same time, MSRTC is one of the largest government-owned public transport undertakings in the country with a fleet of more than 16,000 buses.
