In this, a total of 9,000 employees will be fired. After this announcement, now Amazon has started making layoffs in different departments. The first division in which the company has run the shears is Cloud Services. After the decrease in sales in this service, Amazon has shown the way out to the employees on a large scale.
The retrenchment process has been started in this department as well.
Earlier, due to slow growth, Amazon had also started the process of retrenchment in retail, device and HR department. Significantly, during the Corona epidemic, the company had done large-scale hiring, but after the opening of the Corona lockdown, the company started laying off on a large scale in view of the recessionary situation in the market. The company had fired a total of 18,000 employees in November. After this, once again in March, the retrenchment of 9,000 employees was announced.

After the announcement of layoffs in Amazon Web Services, the company has handed over a layoff memo to its employees in the US, Canada and Costa Rica. The company provides employment to more than 15 lakh people.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, by December 2022, Amazon has given employment to a total of 1.54 million people. In this, the maximum number is of those employees who work in warehouses and shipping the products. Apart from this, the company has around 35,000 corporate employees.
In a letter written to investors last month, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy said that the decision to lay off employees has been difficult for the company, but it is a necessary step for better results in the future. He had said that he is regulating the work of different departments and is about to close the business and stores from which we are not getting much profit.
