Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a new insurance policy for the state government employees. In this, employees and their families will get financial assistance in case of accidental death or disability.

There is good news for the government employees of Assam. Actually, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given a big gift to the state government employees. Sarma has announced a new insurance policy for the employees. Under this scheme, employees will be given life insurance and disability coverage without any premium i.e. zero premium. Under this policy, state employees will get insurance coverage of up to Rs 1 crore.

Sarma said that this scheme has been made for the protection of those employees of the state government who become victims of accidental death or disability during duty. This scheme covers accidents caused by road accidents, fire, floods and other disasters.

A statement issued by the CMO of Assam said, ‘In this new policy, Rs 1 crore will be given to the family in case of accidental death and permanent disability, Rs 80 lakh for partial disability, and an additional Rs 10 lakh for death due to illness. This will provide financial help to the families.’

No premium will have to be paid

Employees will not have to pay any premium for this insurance coverage, because the state government is partnering with SBI and all scheduled commercial banks where employees have salary accounts.
