Central employees have arrears of increased inflation from January 2020 to June 2021, on which decision is yet to be taken.



Amidst the discussions of the new dearness allowance, there is a stir on the outstanding DA arrears of 18 months of Central Government employees and pensioners. The Employees and Pensioners Organization is constantly in touch with the Central Government. On one hand, the pensioners have written a letter to PM Narendra Modi and appealed to resolve the matter soon, while on the other hand the employees’ union has talked about making a negotiated settlement. It is expected that this may be considered in the cabinet meeting to be held next month.

In fact, the arrears of increased inflation from January 2020 to June 2021 of the central employees are pending, on which the decision is yet to be taken. Earlier there was news that arrears would not be given, but now according to media reports, the government of Employees’ Pensioners’ Organization is in talks and the union believes that the government should make a negotiated settlement. Pensioners’ Forum has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing to intervene in the matter regarding release of DA arrears of 18.


In the letter, the Pensioners Forum of India (BMS) has asked PM Modi to resolve the issue at the earliest, as the amount of arrears is huge, which is an important source of income for the employees, pensioners. It is also being said that the Ministry of Finance There is talk of a meeting of the Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) with the officials of Department of Personnel and Training and Department of Expenditure soon. In such a situation, it is expected that in August, the arrears of 18 months can be resolved and the employees can be paid soon. If this happens, then 52 lakh central government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners can benefit. Will get

18 months DA arrears

  • If there is talk on arrears of 18 months, a huge amount will be given to the employees/pensioners.
  • Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900) if arrears are paid.
  • Level-14 (pay-scale) of Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. If the basic salary of the employee is Rs 18,000, the DA arrears due to him for 3 months will be (4,320+3,240+4,320) = 11,880.
  • If Rs 56,000 he will get DA arrear of 3 months (13,656 + 10,242 + 13,656) = Rs 37,554.
