The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows all the registered individuals to check the provident fund (PF) balance from the EPF passbook.

New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows all the registered individuals to check the provident fund (PF) balance. The salaried employees can check the PF balance online using the designated Universal Account Number (UAN) issued by the EPFO by visiting the EPFO website, https://www.epfindia.gov.in/. The UAN linking with the 12-digit biometric ID Aadhaar is not mandatory, however, the persons who have linked Aadhaar card with UAN are able to initiate claims settlements smoothly.

In the EPF account, 12 per cent of the salary is contributed by the employee and the rest 12 per cent is added from the employer’s side to the EPF. Out of the 12 per cent contribution from the employer, 3.67 per cent is invested in the EPF account whereas remaining 8.33 per cent goes towards Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS). The statement of EPF account, the EPF passbook, helps the individuals to check the PF balance linked with multiple UANs if any.
The EPF passbook can be accessed through the unified portal of the EPFO. The passbook of the EPF account and other personal details linked with the UAN can be viewed by downloading the passbook. All the registered users are allowed to download and print the EPF passbook.
