If you are employed then this news is important for you. Actually, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) can make EPF interest in the account of about 6 crore subscribers this month itself. EPF interest will come in his own account, whose Universal Account Number (UAN) will be linked with Aadhaar.
The new deadline for linking UAN with Aadhaar is 1 September 2021. If you do not do this work in 15 days, then the money in your PF account may get stuck. So if you have not done this work yet, then complete it immediately.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has instructed employers that ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return) is allowed only for those EPFO members whose account is linked with Aadhaar. If the Aadhar number is not linked with someone’s EPF account, then the employer’s contribution will not be credited in such EPF account.
Do this work by September 1
EPFO on June 15 extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar and UAN by 3 months. Now its new deadline is 1 September 2021. EPFO has told that whenever interest is deposited, it will be paid in full. There will be no loss of interest. EPFO may soon deposit 8.5% EPF interest. The retirement fund regulatory body kept the EPF interest rate unchanged for the financial year 2020-21.
How to link Aadhaar with UAN
To link Aadhaar number with UAN, you need to login to the EPFO portal epfindia.gov.in. Click on ‘Online Services’ option followed by ‘e-KYC Portal’ and ‘Link Aadhaar to UAN’. Enter your UAN number and registered mobile number.
OTP will come on the registered mobile number. After that enter OTP and your 12 digit Aadhaar number. After filling, click on the ‘Submit’ button. Click on ‘OTP Verify’ option. After this, to verify your Aadhaar details, generate OTP on your registered mobile number in the mail linked to your Aadhaar number.
Offline process to link with EPF
Aadhaar can also be linked with EPF offline. For this you have to go to EPFO office. You have to fill the ‘Aadhaar Seeding Application’ form by going to the EPFO office. Enter your UAN and Aadhaar in the form with all the details. Self-attested copies of your UAN, PAN and Aadhaar have to be attached with the form. It has to be submitted to the executive at any field office of EPFO or Common Service Center (CSC) outlet.
After proper verification, your Aadhaar will be linked to your EPF account. You will get this information through a message which will come on your registered mobile number.
