Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the norms related to change of date of birth in its records more easy. EPFO has told in its update that now the date of birth can be changed online in its records. For this you have to follow the easy process. Let us tell you that if the details of date of birth in your records are not correct, then you may face problem in availing retirement benefits. If the difference of your date of birth is less than 3 years, then its process is different and if the difference of date of birth is more than three years then a different process will have to be followed.

How to change date of birth in record
To change the date of birth, first of all visit the EPFO website ( https://unifiedportal-mem. epfindia.gov.in/ memberinterface/ ). Login with User ID and Password. If your date of birth difference is less than 3 years then you will need to upload Aadhar/e-Aadhaar on the portal. On the other hand, if the difference of your date of birth is more than three years, then along with Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar, one of the documents given in the list will also have to be submitted.
Which documents are included in the list?
1. Certificate from any school/education.
2. Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths.
3. Passport.
4. Certificate of Service Record of Central or State Government.
5. Any document like driving license and ESIC card issued by the government department.
6. Medical certificate issued by Civil Surgeon after examination of the member.
Why is correct date of birth important?
Correct date of birth in the records of EPFO is important for availing provident fund and pension benefits under provident fund scheme and pension scheme. If there is any discrepancy in your date of birth, then you will not be able to get the correct retirement benefit at the right age.
Avail these facilities of EPFO on Umang and Digilocker
EPFO members can download UAN card, Pension Payment Order (PPO) and Scheme Certificate through DigiLocker. At the same time, with the help of EPFO’s official Umang app, you can see your passbook.
