EPFO Higher Pension Deadline: The deadline for choosing the option to get higher pension has been extended once again. This has brought great relief to crores of subscribers of EPFO in the beginning of the new year.
EPFO Higher Pension Detail: Giving great relief to its subscribers, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the deadline for filling the details for Higher Pension Option (EPFO Higher Pension). EPFO has extended its deadline by 5 months to May 31, 2024. While sharing official information on the matter, EPFO has said that now employers will get extra time to choose the option of higher pension and they can fill the higher pension details for their employees till May.
The deadline has been extended several times
In its order in November 2022, the Supreme Court had given an important decision for the subscribers and pension holders of EPFO. After this, EPFO members started getting online facility to apply for higher pension. After that the deadline for higher pension has been extended several times. Earlier this deadline had ended on December 31, 2023, which has now been extended once again. After this, employers have now got more time to process higher pension applications.
EPFO extends date for employers to upload wage details for Pension on Higher Wages till 31 May 2024.

So many applications received so far
According to a report by the Economic Times, applications from a total of 17.49 lakh employees and pensioners have been received for July 2023 to choose the option of higher pension, out of which 3.6 lakh single or joint option applications are still lying with the employers, which are yet to be processed.
