UAN Deactivate: It is important for the salaried people to take care of their provident fund and keep the account of PF transfer after changing jobs. Many times it happens that on changing jobs, many provident fund accounts of any person are opened. In such a situation, many times a person has more than one UAN i.e. Universal Account Number. However, as per the rules, there should be only one UAN. Today we are telling you that if you have more than one UAN then how can you deactivate the old UAN.
What does the EPFO rule say?
As per the rules, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) allows only one UAN (Universal Account Number). If you have 2 UAN then you can transfer your EPF account from one to another. Let us know what you should do to deactivate the old UAN…
How to Deactivate UAN
- First of all you have to inform your employer
- You can mail at uanepf@epfindia.gov.in.
- Mention all UAN and related information in the e-mail
- After this EPFO will do the verification and will close all the old UANs.
- Now apply for transfer of PF account funds linked to old UAN to new PF account
Another way to deactivate UAN is
- Visit https://www.epfindia.gov.in/
- Enter your UAN number and password and login the account
- Then go to ‘Request for Transfer of Account’ in ‘Online Services’
- Now apply to transfer old PF funds from new UAN to linked PF account
- After this EPFO will verify your details.
- After the verification is complete, EPFO will deactivate all your old UANs.
