If you are also an EPFO account holder, then definitely read this news because even after the start of the new year, 7 crore account holders did not get the money, let us know what is the reason.

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) members have not yet received the interest money on their PF account. People expected that in the last month of the year 2022, this amount would be deposited in their account, but it could not happen. Now with the beginning of the new year, these hopes have rekindled and in the media reports coming in this regard, the possibility of sending PF interest to the accounts by the end of January 2023 has been expressed.

Increasing wait of account holders
There is hope in the reports. That the government can transfer interest money to the account of PF account holders by the end of this month. However, no official announcement has been made by the government in this regard. Significantly, for the last few years, the account holders are not getting the PF interest money on time. In 2020-21, 8.5% interest rate was fixed on PF in the month of March, while interest money was received in December 2021. At the same time, in March last year also, the interest rate for 2021-22 was fixed at 8.10 per cent, but the money in the account could not be transferred even after the end of the year.

40 years lowest interest rate
With such news, the wait for the account holders to get money from the government in their PF account seems to be over. However, this is only a possibility now, the final decision and its announcement has to be made by the government. If this happens then it will be a New Year gift for the account holders. Significantly, in March 2022, the government had reduced the interest rate on deposits in PF account from 8.5 percent to 8.1 percent. This is the lowest interest rate in almost 40 years.

In 1977-78, EPFO had fixed the rate of interest on deposits in PF account at 8 per cent. But since then it has been continuously at 8.25 per cent or more. In the financial year 2018-19, 8.65 percent, 8.55 percent in 2017-18, 8.65 percent in 2016-17 and 8.8 percent interest was available in the financial year 2015-16.
