EPFO News: The Central Government has approved interest at the rate of 8.5 percent on EPFO for the financial year 2020-21.
EPFO News: The January-March 2022 quarterly interest rate of Railway Provident Fund has been announced. The Finance Ministry has told that this interest rate is for the fourth quarter of the State Railway Provident Fund for the financial year 2021-22. During this, interest will be available in the PF account at the rate of 7.1%. Priya Sudarshini, Director Finance in Railway Board has informed all the General Managers, Principal Financial Advisor about this.
EPFO is giving 8.5% interest
Earlier, the central government has approved interest at the rate of 8.5 percent on EPFO for the financial year 2020-21. More than five crore subscribers of Employees’ Provident Fund Organization are getting its benefit. The Central Board of Trustees, headed by the Labor Minister, had in March 2021 fixed 8.5% interest rate on PF deposits for the previous financial year.
Interest credited to the accounts of the shareholders
The Finance Ministry had approved the interest rate on EPF for 2020-21. It was deposited in the bank accounts of more than 5 crore subscribers. In March 2020, EPPO had reduced the deposit interest rate on PF account to 8.5% in 7 years for 2019-20. It was 8.65 percent in 2018-19.
Lowest since 2012-13
The EPF interest rate for the financial year 2019-20 was the lowest since 2012-13. This was reduced to 8.5% in 2012-13. EPFO had given 8.8% interest to its subscribers in 2015-16, 8.65% in 2016-17 and 8.55% in 2017-18.

By sending sms
You can send this text ‘EPFO UAN LAN’ to 7738299899 from your EPFO registered mobile number. If you want information in English, you will have to write ENG instead of LAN. Similarly HIN is to be written for Hindi and TAM for Tamil.
By missed call
You can check the balance from your registered mobile number by giving a missed call to the number 011-29901406.
Via umang app
If you have a smartphone, you can check your PF balance through the app. For this, open UMANG app and click on EPFO. Click on Employee Centric Services. After that click on Passbook. PIP UAN and Password have to be entered. You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number. After entering it, you can see the EPF balance.
through website
To check your balance online, visit the EPF passbook portal. Log in using your UN and Password. Then click on Download/ViewPassbook. Then the passbook will open in front of you, in which you can see the balance.
