The members who have not done this work so far, have been deprived of some of their facilities by EPFO. Those who have not done e-nomination can no longer check PF account balance online. By electing the nominee, after the death of the PF account holder, the money goes to the person whom the account holder wanted to give. E-nomination is very helpful in getting PF benefits to the PF account holder and his family. If a PF subscriber dies, then online claim and settlement of provident fund, pension, insurance benefits is possible only when e-nomination is done. , For e-nomination, it is necessary for the account holder to have an active UAN and mobile number linked with Aadhaar. E-nomination can also be done online by the account holder sitting at home.
Who can make a nominee
PF account holder can only make his family members as nominees. If a person does not have a family, then he can also declare any other person as his nominee in that case. After making someone else a nominee, if the address of the family is known, then the nomination of the non-family member gets cancelled. If a PF account holder dies without making a nominee, then his family members have to face a lot of difficulties in getting the PF money. His heir has to go to civil court to get succession certificate for release of PF.
Mode of online e-nomination
- Log on to the official website of EPFO, epfindia.gov.in.
- In the ‘Services’ tab, click on the ‘For Employees’ tab from the drop-down menu.
- Now log in with your UAN.
- The Manage tab will appear. In this select e-nomination.
- Now enter your permanent and current address.
- To change the family declaration, select Yes.
- Enter nominee details and click on save.
- Now proceed by clicking on the e-sign icon.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and also fill the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
- After completing this process, now your nomination will be updated.
