EPFO New Facility: If you are an employee in a company and have to get these two tasks related to EPFO done, then it will be done quickly. In this, the need to get verified from the company or get approval from EPFO has ended. The Union Minister announced these new facilities today. Know which tasks will now be done quickly and how?

By going to the site of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), you will now be able to change personal information like changing your name and date of birth without getting verified from the company or approval from EPFO. Apart from this, subscribers whose EPF accounts have been e-KYC through Aadhaar, can easily file EPF transfer claim through Aadhaar OTP without the help of the company. Retirement fund body EPFO has given two new facilities to its subscribers from today, Saturday 18 January. More than 7.6 crore members associated with EPFO have benefited from this. These services were introduced by Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

But these people will not be able to enjoy the new facility

The Union Minister has given a big facility to the members of EPFO by launching two new facilities, but he further said that it will be available only to those whose UAN (Universal Account Number) was issued after October 1, 2017, i.e. when Aadhaar matching was made mandatory. In such a case, no supporting document will be required. On the other hand, if the UAN is issued before October 1, 2017, then the employer will be able to correct it without the approval of EPFO. The requirement of supporting documents in such cases has also been simplified. However, if the UAN is not linked to Aadhaar, then one will have to go to the employer and after verification, it will be forwarded to the EPFO for approval. Now talking about the claim process for transfer of EPF account, those EPF accounts which have e-KYC will be able to file online transfer claim with EPFO through Aadhaar OTP without the help of the employer.

How much difference will it make?

The Union Minister said that EPFO has more than 10 crore beneficiaries. He said that out of the complaints received from the members, about 27 percent are related to KYC, that is, with the introduction of the facility of updating them on their own, a large number of people will get relief. Employers will also benefit because now they will not have to spend their time in this work. In this, you will update your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father-mother’s name, marital status, husband-wife’s name, date of joining and date of leaving the company on your own. Of the 8 lakh requests sent by employers to EPFO in the financial year 2025, only 40 percent were sent within 5 days and 47 percent were sent within 10 days. Employers took an average of 28 days. Now with the new facilities, personal details will be updated automatically. Those who have already applied, if they want, can cancel the old request and complete the work quickly under the new system. Currently, employers have about 3.9 lakh cases pending.

At the same time, 17 percent of the total complaints are related to transfer. According to the earlier rule, the request goes to EPFO only after verification from the employer. It takes an average of 12-13 days with the employer before going to EPFO. In the last 9 months, about 20 lakh claims were stuck with the employers for more than 15 days. Now this work will also be done quickly and employers’ time will be saved.
