EPFO New Rule: Your employer may stop contributing to your EPF account if you fail to do this

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with PF before September 1 in order to continue getting provident fund contributions from employers.



Earlier, the deadline was 1 June which was extended to 1 September. The retirement body had also asked field offices to ensure that employers are ready to implement the decision from September 1. Also read: Big News: Canada extends ban on direct flights from India. Check details

“After 1st September 2021, the employers will not be able to remit monthly PF and allied dues in respect of their employees whose Aadhaar numbers are not seeded with UAN (Universal Account Number) and they (Employer) will be liable for any legal/statutory/ membership/service delivery aspects affecting such employees of theirs,” the EPFO had said in a statement. The other benefits that employees may lose are COVID-19 advances and insurance benefits. Last year, the retirement fund body had allowed its members to withdraw COVID-19 advance to meet exigencies due to the pandemic. Also Read: IRCTC’s Bharat Darshan: Good response to IRCTC’s tour package

The members were allowed to withdraw three months’ basic wages (basic pay plus dearness allowance) or up to 75% of the amount standing to their credit in their provident fund account, whichever is less. Earlier, EPFO had directed members to validate Aadhaar details, which means unless all details like name, date of birth, gender match, it was not allowing to pay the monthly EPF contributions.  Also Read: Foreign Nationals Can Now Get Vaccinated in India By Registering Via CoWIN

Here’s how to Link Aadhaar With PF Account online



1) Visit epfindia.gov.in

2) On the homepage, click on E-KYC Portal in the Online Services tab. A new page will open. Click on “LINK UAN WITH AADHAAR” link

3) Enter your UAN and Aadhaar number to generate OTP

4) The OTP will be received on your registered mobile number

5) Fill in your Aadhaar number again and verify the OTP

That’s all, now your Aadhaar will be linked with your PF account and you will continue to get all the benefits associated with your PF account.
