EPF members can immediately withdraw an advance of Rs 1 lakh from their PF balance in case of any sudden medical emergency. For this they will not need to give any kind of cost estimate. On June 1, the EPFO had issued a circular, in which it has been told that this medical advance of Rs 1 lakh will be given if there is a sudden hospitalization for the treatment of any other kind of life-threatening diseases including corona. This new facility has been started for the members of EPF, in which you will get Rs 1 lakh as soon as you are admitted to the hospital.
How to get money?
Even earlier, EPFO can withdraw money from EPF at the time of medical emergency. But for this you have to deposit the medical bill. Only after that you get advance. In this new rule, you do not have to submit any advance bill. All you have to do is apply and the money will be transferred to your account.
Here is the whole process
1. To withdraw money from PF account, you first go to the home page of www.epfindia.gov.in website. 2. Now click on Online Advance Claim in the top right corner under COVID-19 tab.
2. You go to online services and claim (Form-31,19,10C & 10D)
3. Now enter the last 4 digits of your bank account and confirm .
4. After this click on Proceed for Online Claim.
5. Now select PF Advance from the drop down (Form 31).
6. After this you choose your reason.
7. Now enter the amount you want to withdraw and upload the scanned copy of the check and enter your address.
8. After this click on ‘Get Aadhaar OTP’ and type the OTP received on the Aadhaar linked mobile.
9. Now your claim is filed.
No need to show estimated bill
Earlier, EPFO had allowed advance to be taken from EPF account for medical emergency. But, this amount was available on the basis of cost estimate or only after reimbursement of medical bills. But this medical advance is completely different from this. For this, the EPF member does not need to show any bill or estimated expenditure, just apply and the amount will be transferred to the account.
