EPFO New Update: If you are also a salaried class and your PF is deducted every day, then this news will make you happy. Yes, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the process of updating personal information in the EPF account easier. Now members with Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Number (UAN) can update their profile without uploading any document. Earlier, employer approval was required to update the EPF profile.
The process used to take up to 28 days to complete
This process used to take up to 28 days to get the approval of the employer. But now if your UAN is linked to Aadhaar, then you can update many types of details directly. For this, you do not even need the approval of the employer. Under this, you can update the information of name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ name, marital status, spouse’s name etc. in the EPF profile without any hassle.
In which cases is employer’s approval necessary?
If your UAN was issued before 1 October 2017, then for any kind of change you will still have to get the approval of your employer. Apart from this, you also have to keep in mind that your Aadhaar and PAN are linked to your EPF account, so that any kind of request is approved quickly and there is no delay in withdrawal.
What will be the benefit of the change to EPF members?
According to EPFO, with this new process, about 45% of change requests will be automatically approved. This will make the process faster and easier than before. Apart from this, there will be less chance of any kind of mistake in data entry. EPF members will get a more convenient and user-friendly experience.
How to update EPF profile online?
- First of all go to the official website of EPFO www.epfindia.gov.in.
- Now login to the Unified Member Portal by entering your UAN, password and captcha.
- After this, under the third step, click on the ‘Manage’ option from the top menu.
- Now select the ‘Modify Basic Details’ option.
- After this, enter your new information (such as name, date of birth) as per the Aadhaar card and submit.
- Now check the status of your update request using the ‘Track Request’ option.
