EPFO: Earlier, updating details in the EPF account required verification from the company, which took up to 28 days. Now, 45 per cent of requests can be self-approved by employees and 50% of requests require only company approval without the involvement of the EPFO.
EPFO: A big step has been taken for the convenience of crores of employees under EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization). EPFO has now made the entire process of updating the details of employees quite easy. Under the new change, employees with Aadhaar-validated Universal Account Number (UAN) can now update their personal details without uploading documents.
Work will be done only on this condition
If the employee’s UAN number is already validated through Aadhaar, then employees can update their profile such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father/mother’s name, marital status, husband/wife’s name, joining date etc. without uploading any document. Let us tell you that earlier updating the profile details in the EPF account was quite complicated, which took a lot of time. Not only this, it had to be channelized through the employee’s company. Now, any update will require company certification only under specific circumstances if your UAN was issued before October 1, 2017.
Earlier there was a need to get verification done from the company
Earlier, updating details in the EPF account required verification from the company, which took up to 28 days. Now, 45 per cent of requests can be self-approved by employees and 50% of requests require only company approval without the involvement of the EPFO.
Aadhaar and PAN should be linked to EPF account
Another thing to note here is that employees must ensure that their Aadhaar and PAN are linked with their EPF account as this is mandatory for any update or withdrawal. There is a high chance of delays if there is any mismatch between EPF details and your Aadhaar. It may take a few weeks to update EPF account details as it completely depends on the employee’s company and the time taken by EPFO to process.
