How to check pension status on EPFO ​​Portal : When an Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) subscriber retires, he/she is allotted a Pension Payment Order (PPO) , which will be sent to every pensioner covered by the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) . Given is a 12 digit number.

Pensioners can check their pension status on the EPFO ​​portal. The 12 digit PPO number is a unique number for each pensioner/family pensioner and acts as a reference number for any communication. If you do not know about your PPO number, then follow the steps given below.

How to know your PPO number

  • Log on to www.epfindia.gov.in
  • Under Online Services, click on Pensioner Portal
  • You will be redirected to ‘Pensioners Welcome Portal’.
  • Click on ‘Know your PPO number’ which is mentioned on the right side of the page
  • Enter your bank account number or PF number.

Once the required data is entered, you will be given your PPO number, member ID and pension type.

How to check pension status

  • Log on to www.epfindia.gov.in
  • Under Online Services, click on Pensioner Portal
  • You will be redirected to ‘Pensioners Welcome Portal’. ,
  • Click on ‘Know Your Pension Status’ which is mentioned on the right side of the page
  • Select Office, Office ID, PPO Number and enter your
  • Click on ‘Get Status’ to get pension status.

Verification of PPO

Please check the pensionary awards included in your PPO to ensure that the same is correct and as per the extant rules. According to the pensioners portal, “In case of any correction required in the PPO, please contact your Head of Office/Pension Disbursing Agency for necessary action in this regard.”

What is the system of allotment of 12 digit PPO numbers?

According to the Central Pension Accounts Office (CPAO), “The following system is followed for allotment of 12 digit PPO numbers. In each PPO, the first five digits indicate the code number of the PPO issuing authority, the next two digits indicate the year of issue, and the following four digits indicate the sequential number of the PPO while the last digit indicates the purpose. There is a check digit for the computer.
