EPFO has issued a circular on December 29, 2022 under the direction of the Supreme Court on higher pension for eligible employees. It has been told in the circular who is eligible and how to apply.

According to the circular, only those employees are eligible, who have compulsorily contributed higher wages under the EPF scheme and exercised their option for higher pension before their retirement, but their requests have been categorically rejected by the EPFO. Had done it.

Allow them to apply

  • This benefit will be given to the EPS member who had contributed towards pension on salary above the salary limit of Rs 5,000 or Rs 6,500 and opted for higher pension.
  • While being a member of EPS-95, exercised the combined option under the EPS of the Pre-Amendment Scheme.
  • His exercise of this option was rejected by the EPFO.

How to apply for getting higher pension

Eligible EPS members will have to visit the concerned Regional EPFO office along with the application form and necessary documents. The request shall be made in such form and manner as may be specified by the Commissioner. The application for verification shall contain a disclaimer as mandated in the above Government Notification.
