EPFO: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is working on improving its system these days. So that the service of EPFO becomes easier for the people. EPFO hopes that it will complete the first phase of its technical reform by 31 March. Under this first phase of EPFO, the database will be centralized.
After this, it is expected to help in accelerating the speed of many services including claim process, settlement and complaint. A senior government official said that March 31 is the last date and we hope that most of the new systems will be implemented by then. He said that the change may take some more time, but we hope that it will be fully completed and implemented as soon as possible.
Facility of UAN based ledger
This new platform, known as Central IT Enabled System or CITES 2.01, is expected to help improve the performance of EPFO. This modernization effort aims to streamline claim settlement and payment, which will replace the old field office application software to enhance service delivery. The new IT system will provide UAN based ledger facility for all member accounts.
More than 11.78 crore accounts
As of March 7 this year, EPFO had more than 11.78 crore member accounts, but for the last several years it has been facing challenges in providing timely services to members, including delays in claim processing and settlement, transfer of accounts, access to e-passbook or even simple correction in member profile. In fact, EPFO officers associations had also written to EPFO in the past highlighting these challenges and demanding upgradation of IT systems and infrastructure of retirement fund management.
EPFO focus on modernization
Let us tell you that in recent months, EPFO has been focusing on better customer services and is also planning to further modernize its platform after the completion of the current set of reforms under CITES 2.01.
