E Shram Card Portal News: So far, about 10 crore workers of the unorganized sector have registered on the e-shram portal. According to the information recorded on the portal, 10 crore 9 lakh, 79 thousand, 624 e-shram cards have been issued so far. The government has set a target to benefit 38 crore workers through this portal. These include construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors and domestic workers, etc.
The registration of workers has been started for the purpose of providing the security of insurance etc. to the workers of the unorganized sector. Accidental insurance cover of 2 lakh is available after registration on the e-shram portal.
The Labor Ministry has said that e-shram portal has been started to create a national database for workers to give benefits of various social security schemes run by the government.
Regarding the e-shram portal, the government has to say to the workers- ‘Today you are able to work hard, will you be able to do it tomorrow also? So why not secure your old age through PM-SYM from today itself.
E-labor card (E-SHRAM Card )
Registration to workers on e-labor portal released an e-labor card (e-SHRAM Card). With the help of this card, workers can take advantage of all social security schemes anywhere and anytime in the country. There is also the help of workers free accident insurance.
All social security benefits of unorganized workers will be available from this portal. This database can be used to help workers in situations like emergencies and national pandemics.
Universal Account Number
Workers who register themselves on the E-Shram portal get Universal Account Number (UAN). This UAN is of 12 digits. UAN is a permanent number. Once allotted, this number will not change for life.
How to register:
Any worker in the unorganized sector can register on the e-shram portal. The age of the worker should be between 16 years to 59 years of age.
Documents like Aadhar account number, mobile phone number, bank account should be there for registration on the portal.
Any worker of the unorganized sector can register himself by visiting the eshram.gov.in portal or by visiting his nearest Common Service Centre-CSC. Registration here is completely free.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
The biggest benefit of e-shram portal is that of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). This is an accident insurance scheme of the Government of India, which is for the people in the age group of 18- 70 years. 2 lakh in case of accidental death or permanent disability of a worker and Rs 1 lakh in case of partial disability.
