But you will be surprised to know that there are some such expressways in the country, where if two-wheelers are driven, then the challan of the vehicle is certain to be deducted. Yes, driving two-wheelers on these expressways, even if you are seen standing, then you will have to pay a hefty fine of up to Rs 20,000. Two-wheelers are banned on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME). At the same time, there is a ban on super bikes on Yamuna Expressway. Let us know the rules related to this.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway
Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, two wheelers are banned on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. If you take two wheelers on this route, then Meerut and Ghaziabad traffic police can deduct challan ranging from Rs 500 to 20 thousand. However, shorter and slower speed vehicles are allowed in the service lanes of the expressway.
If you are going from Meerut to Delhi, then the speed limit of vehicles on the main road going from Ghazipur intersection to Meerut has been fixed at 100 kmph.
These bikes cannot be taken on Yamuna Expressway
Apart from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, the Yamuna Expressway is also prohibited from carrying bikes. However, this rule is applicable only on super bikes. Due to several accidents involving high-performance superbikes on the Yamuna Expressway, the police had banned superbikes from plying on this route. The decision was taken in 2020 and if you take such a bike, you will be refunded or fined under the Motor Vehicle Act.
