This news is for government employees. The government has changed some rules regarding family pension. Due to which now the families of government employees will also get big benefits. Let us know below in the news about the changed rules regarding pension.

The government has issued a new rule regarding family pension. This rule of pension is for those who go missing somewhere during the job. The family members of a government employee are covered under the National Pension System (NPS). Therefore, the family pension of the missing employee will be given the benefit of family pension. Along with this, the benefit of salary arrears, leave encashment and retirement gratuity will also be available.

It is worth noting here that the benefit of these facilities will be available to the people of the same family whose government employee is missing. There are also cases in which a person goes missing and there is no trace of him for years. No information is available till the end. In the case of a government employee, it has been kept in the category of family pension.

Ajit Kumar, Chief Strategy Officer of Kfintech Company, tells Financial Express, the new rule will benefit the family of a government employee whose posting is in violence-prone areas. For example, Jammu and Kashmir, the North East region and the areas battling Naxism will come in it. There are complaints of missing in these places and the family members of the employee keep gazing for their member for years. If he is the only earning person in the family, then the troubles increase even more. To get rid of this, the government has imposed the rule of family pension. Now the family members of the missing government employee will get the benefit of family pension.

What was the rule till now-

In case of missing or missing government employee, his family will be started the benefit of family pension immediately. Ajit Kumar further says, till now government employees were covered under CCS Pension Rules 1972. If the employee went missing somewhere, then under this rule his family was given benefits. But on 28 April 2022, a new rule related to this has been issued. It states that the government employee who is covered under NPS, if he goes missing, then his family members will be given the benefit of family pension.

Now what is the new rule-

The biggest feature of this new rule is that the family members of the missing employee will not have to wait long for the pension. One will not have to wait that the government will declare that employee as missing first, only then will the family pension be started. It’s not like that. The government declares a missing employee dead or waits for seven years. Only after that the benefit of family pension is given. Now this will not happen and the government will start giving family pension to the family of an employee as soon as he goes missing.

A provision has been made in this rule that the family will get family pension without being declared dead by the government or without waiting for seven years, but during this time the NPS account and permanent retirement account number will remain suspended. Now if the missing government employee reappears later and joins the service, then the amount of family pension given to the family will be deducted from his salary. Along with this, the NPS account and Permanent Retirement Account number of the employee will also be activated.
