Farmers Protest Update 2024: Heavy security arrangements have been made in Central Delhi in view of the farmers’ protest, with personnel deployed strategically with anti-riot equipment and several major roads covered with metal and concrete to control movement. Barricades have been installed due to which the people commuting daily are facing difficulty.



Delhi Farmers March 2024: Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday issued an advisory for passengers in view of the fierce protests by farmers in the national capital. The advisory asks travelers to plan their travel and keep an eye on information about possible delays and alternative routes. Meanwhile, in view of the farmers marching towards Delhi, one or more entry and exit gates at 8 stations of Delhi Metro were closed on Tuesday morning. However, these stations are not closed and passengers are allowed to move in and out through other gates.

The statement issued by Delhi Airport said, “Please note that due to the proposed protests by farmers at various borders of Delhi from 13.02.2024, traffic changes will remain in effect. For commercial vehicles, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in effect from 12.02.2024. Will be implemented from.” In the advisory, passengers have been asked to keep an eye on updated information about alternative routes.

The advisory further read, “To ensure on-time arrival, we encourage passengers to use the Magenta Line for Terminal 1 (T1) or the Airport Metro for Terminal 3 (T3) for convenient transportation options ” Apart from Delhi Airport, airlines like Vistara and SpiceJet also issued their own updates in view of the farmers’ protest.

Gates closed at 8 stations of Delhi Metro

Officials said that in view of the farmers marching towards Delhi, one or more entry and exit gates at 8 stations of Delhi Metro were closed on Tuesday morning. Official sources said that the gates have been closed for security purposes on the instructions of police authorities. A senior official told PTI that some gates at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Janpath and Barakhamba Road have been closed.

He said that a gate at Khan Market metro station has also been closed on Tuesday. Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces has been done besides erecting heavy barricades in several phases to close the Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders to prevent farmers from entering Delhi. Punjab farmers clashed with Haryana Police at Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border and Jind border. During this, the police released tear gas shells and used water cannon.
