The deadline for updating KYC of Fastag was 29 February. This date has passed. For those whose Fastag is not updated, it has been deactivated. If you have more than one Fastag in your car, then all the old Fastags will have been activated except the one purchased last. Therefore, if you are planning to go to another city by car, then it would be better to first check the status of your Fastag.
Fastag deactivation information through SMS or mail
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had said on January 15 that Fastags whose KYC is incomplete will be deactivated. The deadline for this was fixed for 29th February. NHI had said that after February 29, Fastag will be deactivated by the concerned bank. However, there is a rule to give this information to those people whose KYC of Fastag is not updated through email and SMS. But, it is possible that due to your busy schedule you may not have paid attention to any such email or SMS.
This is how to find out whether it is active or not
If your Fastag was issued by NHAI, then you will have to visit fastag.ihmcl.com to see whether it is active or not. On this site you will have to enter your mobile number. Then, OTP will come on your phone. After logging in, you have to click on the check status option. Then you will see the status of Fastad.
Status of Fastag issued by the bank
If your Fastag has been issued by any bank then you will have to go to www.netc.org.in/request-fornetc-fastag. Then you have to select your bank. Then you will know about your KYC after logging in to your bank. Experts say that if your Fastag has been deactivated then it would be better for you to get a new Fastag.
Do not travel without Fastag
It has now become difficult to drive a car without Fastag. There are tolls on every highway, where you are allowed to proceed only after toll payment. If you pay toll in cash, you have to pay double the toll. Therefore Fastag is necessary.
