FASTag: If the wrong toll or excess toll has been deducted from your Fastag account, complain about it immediately. You will get its refund immediately. The government has implemented strict rules to make FASTag transparent and fair. The National Highways Authority (NHAI) has taken strict action on cases of wrong deduction from FASTag wallet. According to the report, Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh per violation on toll operators in 250 such cases. What is wrong FASTag deduction?
Wrong toll deduction through FASTag occurs when money is wrongly deducted from the FASTag account of the vehicle owner. There are many reasons for this. These are:
- Wrong vehicle identification – The system mistakenly charges a vehicle that has not passed through the toll plaza.
- Double deduction – The vehicle is charged twice for the same journey.
- Wrong toll charge – The vehicle is charged more than the prescribed route or category.
- Deduction without crossing toll – The vehicle has not passed through the toll plaza yet the money is deducted.
These errors usually occur due to wrong entries made by toll operators, system failure or technical flaws. Customers whose money has been deducted from their FASTag can lodge a complaint with IHMCL and get a refund.
