But due to easy access to the internet and lack of regulation, fake information and fake news are also spread very easily here, due to which people are cheated many times. One such video has gone viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that your FASTag can be hacked from a device like a watch. Let’s know what is the truth of this viral video.
Claim in viral video
In a video posted on social media, it is being claimed that a device that looks like a watch can hack your FASTag. In this, a small child is cleaning a car parked on the road and during this time he scans the fastag with a device like the first smartwatch in his hand.
It is further claimed in the video that your FASTag can be hacked and if you have linked FASTag with any of your e-wallets, then your account can be vacated very easily.
How true is this claim
As soon as this video went viral on social media, the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) gave its clarification on this. NPCI said that this video is completely fake and baseless. He said that such FASTag transaction cannot be done through any open internet.

Each toll plaza has a unique code
NPCI further said that such a forgery is not possible with such a device that looks like a watch. For payment of FASTag, each toll plaza has a unique code, which is mapped to a particular bank and Jio code. In such a situation, such fraudulent transactions are not possible.
