New Delhi. The Central Government launched the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department at 8.45 pm on Monday night saying that it has been made better than before. This will make it easier for the taxpayers in e-filing. However, the opposite happened and complaints of flaws in the new website started coming in. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lashed out at Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani over this.
‘Hope Infosys and Nilekani will not disappoint’
Tagging Infosys and Nilekani, Finance Minister Sitharaman tweeted that ease of compliance for taxpayers should be our priority. It is expected that Infosys and Nandan Nilekani will not disappoint the taxpayers in terms of quality of service. Actually, the responsibility of designing and maintaining the new portal has been given to Infosys. Earlier the address of the e-filing website was incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, which has now changed to incometax.gov.in. Let us inform that the new portal was to be launched on the morning of 7 June 2021, but due to technical flaws it was launched at 8.45 pm. Even after this, complaints of irregularities are continuously coming in it.
The much awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched last night 20:45hrs.

Taxpayers will get all these facilities in the new portal
>> The new website will be more user friendly than before, which will make it easier to file ITR and get refund faster.
>> Work uploaded and pending on the new portal will be visible together. If any work of a taxpayer has stopped, then its information will also be available at one place. That is, it will be easy to file ITR, review it and take any action.
>> This will be a free ITR preparation software that can be obtained online and offline simultaneously.
>> If you have any question, you can also raise it here. If there is any problem related to ITR, then you will be able to query it.
>> Any taxpayer without any tax information will be able to do e-filing comfortably by entering minimum data.
>> If there is any problem related to filing, if you want information about it, then you can get help on the phone. Tax related ‘FAQs’, tutorials, videos and chatbots can be availed.
>> All the necessary features of the desktop portal are also available on the mobile app.
>> A new tax payment system has been introduced in the new portal, in which there will be many payment options. These include Net Banking, UPI, RTGS, NEFT.
