Flight fare increased by ₹1000: The cost of air fuel (ATF) is now affecting people’s pockets. IndiGo has imposed fuel charge on flight tickets during the festive season.
IndiGo Fuel Charge: The increase in the prices of ATF, the fuel used in airplanes, has now started falling on common passengers. This Sunday itself, ATF prices were increased by about ₹ 5,779/KL, after which airline company IndiGo has added fuel charge to its flight tickets. Due to this, during the festive season, passengers will have to pay extra charges ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 in ticket prices. Indigo is imposing this fuel charge on both its domestic and international flights. These fuel charges will be applicable from October 6 itself.
In a press release, IndiGo said that after the increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for the third consecutive month, the airline is having to impose fuel charges on domestic and international routes. These prices will come into effect from 00.01 pm on 6 October 2023.

ATF rates were increased this week
According to the notification issued by public sector petroleum companies on October 1, the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) has been increased by Rs 5,779.84 per kiloliter or 5.1 percent from Rs 1,12,419.33 to Rs 1,18,199.17. Earlier on September 1, the biggest increase in aviation fuel prices was 14.1 percent. At that time the price of ATF had increased by Rs 13,911.07 per kilolitre.
Prices increased for the fourth consecutive time
Earlier on August 1, the price of aviation fuel was increased by 8.5 percent or Rs 7,728.38 per kiloliter. It is noteworthy that this is the fourth consecutive increase in aviation fuel price. ATF accounts for 40 percent of the operating cost of an airline. On July 1, ATF prices had increased by 1.65 percent or Rs 1,476.79 per kilolitre. Jet fuel prices have increased by a record Rs 29,391.08 per kiloliter in four times.
