DGCA had sent a notice to Go First
The DGCA had issued a show cause notice to GoFirst following the airline’s decision to suspend its flights for three days from May 3. The regulator said in a statement, ‘GoFirst has informed to stop booking tickets for its flights till May 15. The airline has said that it will either refund the ticket money to the passengers or allow them to board the flight at a future date.
DGCA directed to return ticket money
Following GoFirst’s reply, the DGCA has directed the airline to refund the ticket money within the stipulated time frame under the existing regulations. The regulator said it is endeavoring to minimize the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the sudden stoppage of operations by GoFirst.
The company has a liability of more than 11 thousand crores
Let us tell you that the airline Go First is on the verge of bankruptcy. It has applied for insolvency process in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The company is facing cash crunch. The Wadia Group-owned airline has a liability of Rs 11,463 crore.
Reason given for non-supply of engine
The company has applied for voluntary insolvency resolution process, the Delhi bench of NCLT will hear the appeal of GoFirst on Thursday. The airline has said that more than half of its fleet is grounded due to non-supply of engines from Pratt & Whitney, which has led to the situation.
