Flipkart is moving ahead on the dark stores strategy to maintain its hold in the Indian e-commerce market. Dark Stores is an outlet of Flipkart, which is opened for delivery only. With the help of this strategy, she wants to strengthen her hold in the local market. Reliance launched Geomart in May.

Flipkart is aggressively building its exclusive storage capacity of food and grocery in dozens of smaller storage locations (dark stores with an area of ​​around 3,000-4,000 square feet). With this help, the company is focusing on the hyper local market in this segment. The company is rapidly opening such stores in cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata.

Last week Flipkart launched the hyper local service Flipkart Quick in Bengaluru. With the help of this, he has started delivery service of about 2000 products including other groceries within two hours in the local market. The company is also making this service available for other electronic gadgets including smartphones.

Independent storage facility started

To increase the hyper local business, the company is launching dozens of independent storage facilities in every city. For example, in cities like Delhi, it will introduce dozens of storage facilities in different areas. The Fulfillment Center will be outside the city and from there fast moving goods will be continuously supplied in these storage. This will speed up delivery.

Spokespersons of Flipkart said that in the coming months, the company will move ahead with this strategy in 6 cities, focusing on hyper local. The aim will be to start a delivery service within 90 minutes. The company will spend extensively in the coming years to strengthen the delivery system.
