Food grains are provided at subsidy to any Indian citizen through ration cards. This card issued by the state governments is of great importance. This card is making the food grains much cheaper than the market rate to the poor. Ration is also used as a government document. For example, it is taken as an ID proof in all government schemes, from opening a bank account, to admission to a children’s school.

Two portals have also been created by the central government for rationing information. The first one is annavitran.nic.in (Annavitaran) and the second is the Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS) portal.

IM-PDS arranges the technology platform for inter-state portability of the card. Migrants get direct benefit of this. So that migrant laborers can take ration from any fair price shop in the country. At the same time, distributed food grains are stored within a state through e-POS devices. Through this, a laborer present in a state can take ration from any other district in his state.
Explain that if you want to apply for ration card, then for this, you have to visit the portal of the food and logistics department of the state government (where you are resident). In such a situation, you will have to download the ration card application form from these portals. The form has to be filled well and submitted to the nearest ration dealer or food supply office. If you are from rural area, you can submit the form to the Tehsil office. On these portals, updates are also given about the ration card and the benefits available through it.
