E-Passport Announcement in Budget 2022: On 1 February 2022, the country’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the financial year 2022-2023 in front of the country. In this budget speech, he laid the roadmap of the direction of the government in front of the country. The biggest emphasis of the government was on digitalisation.
In order to connect the whole country with the digital medium, the Finance Minister made several announcements. One of them is the E-Passport Facility. The Finance Minister announced in his budget speech that now e-passports will be issued to citizens for traveling abroad. Chip in E-Passport will also be installed in this passport. This will now make it easier for people to travel abroad. This technology will be released in the financial year 2022-23 (FY 2022-23).
