Free ration will be available only till November 30
Let us inform that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), free ration will be available only till November 30. There is currently no plan of the government to extend the duration of this scheme beyond November 30. According to the Union Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey, in view of the improvement in the economy and good sale of food grains in the open market under the OMSS policy, the distribution of free ration through PMGKAY (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna) will be started from November. There is no proposal to proceed.
Last year in March 2020, PMGKAY (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) was started to provide free food grains in view of the crisis caused by the first wave of corona epidemic. Initially this scheme was launched for the period of April-June 2020, but later it was extended till November 30, 2020 this year. But this year after the second wave of Corona came, again the plan was brought for the month of May-June. But later the government extended the scheme for five months and from July to November, 2021 so that people could get free food grains.
