1- Recently renamed the station
The Government of Karnataka has changed the name of Hubli railway station. Now this station will be known as Shri Siddharuddha Swamiji Railway Station – Hubli. Siddharuddha Swamy’s followers had long been demanding to name the Hubli station after his guru. Siddharuddha Swami died in Hubli in 1929.
2- The busiest stations in Karnataka are
Hubli Junction station of Indian Railways is the busiest railway station in Karnataka after Bengaluru railway station. Hubli Junction station connects the railway lines of major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. There are also many other development works to be done at this junction which were slowed down due to Covid-19.
3- Railways is doing big work
South Western Railway Zone is also extending the length of the platform of Hubli Junction. For this, the Railways has allocated a budget of 90 crores. The railways are soon going to increase the length of the platform of Hubli junction to 550 meters by 1,550 meters. All these works are expected to be completed by 2021 at Hubli Junction.
4- Gorakhpur railway station has the largest platform
With increasing the length of the platform, the Hubli Junction station will be converted into the longest railway platform in the world. At present, Gorakhpur railway station of Northeast Railway is the longest railway platform in the world. The platform measures 1,366 meters in length and was inaugurated in 2013.
5- Railways did many things in lockdown
Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, the Indian Railways has started many facilities at the Hubli Junction station. During the lockdown, the Railways has taken many steps to improve the infrastructure.
