New Delhi: Often people adopt many precautions while buying gold. But despite this, there are some rules which are very important to know. If you know these rules while buying gold, then you will never have to face any loss. So let’s know which rules and precautions should be adopted.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) sets the rules for other regulation like purity and billing of gold. BIS says that you should buy only hallmarked jewelery and after purchase take an authentic bill or receipt from the jeweller. This is a very important step for any customer. If you face any problem with your gold items, then this receipt will be very useful for you.

This information should be in the bill

According to BIS, your bill should contain information about Hallmark jewellery. There should be number of items, their different weight, carat information, hallmark information. The name of the article in your bill, for example, if you have bought a ring, then ring. Also, what is its weight, purity. Along with this, the current rate of gold according to carat, making charges, hallmark charges and GST, etc., should be included in the total.

If there is a separate stone etc. in your gold jewellery, then the jeweler will have to give this information in a separate bill. How much is the stone, which one is it, what is its weight, information like this should be there.

If you have doubts about the purity of gold, then BIS also gives you the facility to get its purity checked. You can get it checked by visiting any BIS approved Assaying and Hallmarking Center (A&H Center). You will have to pay the testing charge for this.
