Gold Hallmarking: The festival of Navratri has started. People often start buying gold and silver from Navratri for all auspicious works like marriage, engagement, mundan. Since gold is a very expensive metal, one should be very careful while buying it.
Gold Hallmarking: Gold should always be purchased after checking the hallmarking. Gold hallmarking is a proof of the purity of gold. In India, the purity of gold is guaranteed through the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark. But nowadays cases of fake hallmarking on gold are also coming to the fore. In such a situation, it is very important for you to understand whether the hallmarking is real or fake? Know how you can check the reality of the hallmark.
Understand these rules first
According to the rules, jewelers should meet the standards of BIS standard to sell gold jewelry. After hallmarking became mandatory in the country, now only 14, 18 and 22 carat gold jewellery can be sold, that is, if you go to buy jewellery, you will get it only in 14, 18 and 22 carats. If someone shows you 20 or 21 carat jewellery, then understand that there is something fishy. Apart from this, always remember that 24 carat gold is considered the purest gold, but jewellery is not made from it. In such a situation, if a jeweller is talking about 24 carat gold jewellery, then he is cheating you.
How to identify hallmark?
Look for the triangular mark of BIS on hallmark jewellery. Apart from this, check the 6-digit Hallmark Unique Identification Number i.e. HUID number. This code includes letters and digits. There cannot be two jewellery with one HUID number. Apart from this, look at the carat number. 916 is written on 22 carat gold, 750 on 18 carat gold and 585 on 14 carat gold, by looking at these numbers you can identify how many carats the gold is.

How to identify if the hallmark is real?
You can also check the jewellery with the help of BIS Care App created by the Bureau of Indian Standards. For this, you have to install the app in the mobile. In this, you have to give your name, phone number and email ID and verify your mobile number and email ID through OTT. After this you can use the app. To check, go to Verify HUID and enter the HUID number of the jewellery. If the jewellery is real, then all the details like its purity, name of the product will come in front of you in the app.
The price of gold is according to the carat
Apart from all these things, remember one thing that whenever you go to buy gold, check the price of gold first while leaving the house. The prices of 24 carat, 22 carat, 18 carat and 14 carat gold are different. Let us tell you that 22 carat gold contains 91.66 percent gold, 18 carat contains 75 percent gold and 14 carat contains 58.1 percent gold. Gold jewellery is prepared by mixing other metals with it.
