Petrol Price 20 August 2021 Update: Petrol prices have not changed even once in the month of August. However, petrol has crossed Rs 100 in many states of the country. There is definitely a slight reduction in the prices of diesel for 3 consecutive days.
Petrol Price 20 August 2021 Update: Even though there has been no change in the prices of petrol since 34 days, but there is a small reduction in the prices of diesel for three consecutive days. Even today diesel has become cheaper by 20 paise per liter. Diesel has become cheaper by 60 paise per liter in these three days. Crude oil is continuously weakening in the global market. Brent crude has now slipped below $ 67 per baller. The last hike in petrol prices was on July 17, 2021.
Petrol prices did not change for 34 consecutive days
Even today, the rate of petrol in Delhi is Rs 101.84 per liter. Whereas diesel is selling 20 paise cheaper at Rs 89.27 per liter. Similarly, petrol in Mumbai is still at Rs 107.83 per liter and the price of diesel is Rs 96.84 per liter. Petrol in Kolkata is being sold at Rs 102.08, while diesel is priced at Rs 92.32 per litre. The rate of petrol in Chennai is also Rs 102.49 on the 9th day and diesel is at Rs 93.84 per liter.

Petrol became costlier by Rs 3.30 in July
Let us tell you that in July, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 3.03 while diesel became costlier by 69 paise. Let us tell you that the price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 in about 20 states and union territories. In which apart from four metro cities, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir are included.
Petrol costlier by Rs 4.32 in June
Petrol and diesel prices were increased 16 times in June. In June, petrol became costlier by Rs 4.32. On June 1, the rate of petrol in Delhi was Rs 94.49 per liter, on June 30 the rate was Rs 98.81. While diesel has become costlier by Rs 3.80. On June 1, the rate of diesel in Delhi was Rs 85.38, on June 30 the rate was Rs 89.18.
Petrol became costlier by Rs 4.09 in May
Prior to this, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased 16 times in the month of May. Petrol-diesel prices were increased for 4 consecutive days from May 4, while due to elections, there was peace in the prices of petrol and diesel for the first 18 days. In the entire month of May, the rate of petrol in Delhi has become costlier by Rs 4.09. While diesel has become costlier by Rs 4.68 this month.
Petrol costlier by Rs 21.27 in 1 year
Crude oil is trading below $70 per barrel in the international market. Petrol and diesel prices have increased wildly this year, while the reduction has happened only 4 times. Talking about this year only, petrol prices have increased by 15% so far. In March and April, when the assembly elections of 5 states were to be held, the prices remained stagnant. Rather, there was a cut thrice in March and once in April. Petrol prices have increased by Rs 21.27 in a year. On August 16, 2020, the rate of petrol in Delhi was Rs 80.57.
Central and state governments charge heavy taxes
Central excise and state taxes account for 60 percent of the price of petrol, while it is 54 percent in diesel. Central excise duty on petrol is Rs 32.90 per liter, while that on diesel is Rs 31.80 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices usually change daily, based on benchmark international crude prices and foreign exchange rates.
