DA Hike News: Bihar government will give two months dearness allowance to the employees in the next month i.e. October. This proposal has been approved in the cabinet meeting. In October, the state government employees will get the dearness allowance for the month of July-August in one lump sum along with the salary of the month.
Patna: Bihar government employees will get double happiness of Dussehra-Diwali. Nitish Kumar’s government had increased the Dearness Allowance of the employees last month , now the latest update is that the government will give two months’ dearness allowance to the employees in the next month i.e. October. This proposal has been approved in the cabinet meeting of the Bihar government. That is, now in October, the state government employees will get the dearness allowance for the month of July-August in a lump sum along with the salary of the month.
Along with the salary of October, the employees should get the allowance of July-August, so that the cabinet has given its approval. However, the situation is not clear on whether the employees will get the arrears on DA or not.
Center had first announced to increase DA
Let us tell you that in July, the central government had announced to increase the DA of central employees. After the approval of the Union Cabinet, it was decided to increase the dearness allowance and dearness relief (DR) rate for central government employees and pensioners by 11 percent from July 1. With this the new rate of DA has increased from 17 percent to 28 percent. This will benefit 48 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners.
A press note was issued by the government saying that ‘the government is increasing the dearness allowance by 28 percent with effect from July 1, 2021, which is 11 percent more than the current 17 percent. But for the period from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the DA will remain at 17 per cent.
After the decision of the Center, many states including Bihar had announced to increase the DA . On August 15 last month, the Nitish government had announced to increase the dearness allowance of the officers, employees and pensioners of the state government. He had said that ‘on the lines of the Central Government, the officers, employees and pensioners of the State Government will be given the rate of dearness allowance from July 1, 2021, increasing the rate of dearness allowance by 11 percent to 28 percent.’
Increase in DA was stopped from January, 2020
Let us tell you that the Central Government employees currently get dearness allowance at the rate of 17 percent. This rate is as per the revision done in July, 2019. Actually, after July, 2019, the next amendment was to be done on January, 2020. In this way, there was neither an increase in DA nor did the employees get its benefit. Till now DA has increased from 17 to 28 percent DA. But the revision of DA was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, so this amendment took place in July this year.
