EPFO has gifted more than 50 million of its subscribers just before Diwali. The government has approved 8.5 percent interest rate on EPF account for the financial year 2020-21. After this decision, now more than five crore subscribers of EPFO will be able to get the benefit of higher interest rate on EPF account.
In March this year, 8.5 per cent of the interest on EPF account for the current financial year was fixed by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT), the apex decision-making body of the EPFO. This new interest rate will now be credited to the accounts of more than five crore subscribers.

Via Umang app
EPFO subscribers can check PF balance very easily from their mobile through UMANG App. UMANG App India was launched by the government to provide EPFO subscribers access to various government schemes and services at one place. To take advantage of this app, you have to do one time registration after downloading the UMANG app in your mobile phone. Through this app you can view EPF passbook, increase and track EPF claims.
By missed call
You can also check your PF balance using missed call service. For this you only have to give a missed call on 011-22901406 from your UAN registered mobile number. After which EPFO will send your PF details on your registered mobile number.
By SMS
You can SMS to the number 7738299899 by typing EPFOHO in the text box of your mobile. The format of the text message should be “EPFOHO UAN”. This service is also available in 10 Indian languages.

You can register yourself by logging on to the EPFO member portal https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login using your UAN and password, and view the details of your passbook.
